Assessment and Planning
Most IT organisations are finding that they must make changes to their storage management strategy to keep pace. But without sound planning, these changes and improvements can actually perpetuate existing problems or cause additional ones to arise.

Architecture Design
After completion of the Capabilities Audit, Requirements Definition, and Gap Analysis, you have the knowledge you need to develop your Storage Architecture Plan. The Storage Architecture Plan enables you to solve any problems identified during the Gap Analysis, and serves as the basis for future technology acquisitions and planning.

Deployment
Planning is only a small piece of implementing new technology, projects, or processes. The implementation phase and ongoing change management are equally important. NAS can help you implement storage projects and plans from start to finish, or assist you only in specific areas where you require added storage expertise.

Optimisation
NAS’s Optimisation Services help you address these issues and more. Our consultants enable you to get the most out of your existing storage investments by helping you improve procedures, fine-tune system configurations, shift resource allocations, and perform software version upgrades.

Knowledge Transfer
Now that you've deployed a SAN or NAS into your environment, does your IT department know how to maximize its use? NAS engineers will educate your staff so they can effectively utilize the investment in storage that you've made.

The unseen cost of data loss includes downtime, lost productivity, reduced customer confidence and time taken to recreate data. In addition, 50% of companies that experience a disastrous loss of data never fully recover and go out of business within 2 years. Balanced against this, you will find the cost of hiring the expertise of NAS compares favourably. Our consultants are also happy to perform health-checks and troubleshooting on your existing network storage systems.

Explosive data growth?

Expanding storage requirements?

Accelerating costs?

The size of data is growing rapidly - in terms of both the size of files and the type of information now stored on electronic media and businesses are now faced with a constant demand for internal and external multi user access to this data. To cope with this demand, adequate, scalable, storage space must be acquired, which can grow with your requirements. The integrity of the data must be maintained to ensure it is up-to-date, and contains the correct information and a company must guard against data loss with effective centralised backup procedures.

In order to implement such procedures most IT organizations are finding that they must make changes to their storage management strategy to keep pace. But without sound planning, these changes and improvements can actually perpetuate existing problems or cause additional ones to arise.

However, budgets are finite and calendars are full. Sound planning requires time and resources that most IT organizations can't afford to remove from the day-to-day demands of fighting fires and keeping the data centre running. It requires storage experts who can step back and objectively see the "big picture."

Evaluating Your Overall Storage Management Operation

Gaining a handle on your storage management operation can be an overwhelming task. Most organizations find it difficult to absorb the storage management challenges they currently face, let alone find time for adequate future planning. The Storage Review service provides a high-level review of your current storage management environment and strategy. It highlights current strengths and weaknesses, where you may be at risk, and where you should focus your limited storage budget first for greatest impact. The service helps you tackle that hard-to-answer question of where to begin.

The Storage Review begins with preliminary information gathering, as well as on-site orientation, interviews, and data collection. After analysis of all information collected, NAS consultants deliver their findings on-site via the Storage Review, which includes an assessment of the organization's ability in each of the major storage management areas. The Storage Review also includes recommendations on which steps are most crucial to protecting data and business continuity.

After completion of the Storage Review you have the knowledge you need to develop your Storage Architecture Plan. The Storage Architecture Plan enables you to solve any problems identified during the Storage Review, and serves as the basis for future technology acquisitions and planning. The plan defines all relevant infrastructure components required to support the new strategy, as well as best practices and a properly aligned operational model.

NAS can assist you in developing an overall storage management strategy for the enterprise, or for a specific storage technology such as SAN, backup, near-line storage, off-line storage, and others

Deployment

Planning is only a small piece of implementing new technology, projects, or processes. The implementation phase and ongoing change management are equally important. NAS can help you implement storage projects and plans from start to finish, or assist you only in specific areas where you require added storage expertise. We can help you complete your projects on time and within budget.

The backgrounds of our storage management consultants include enterprise data centre management. This experience enables them to view implementation and management issues not only from an objective, outside-in perspective, but also from the inside-out. Our consultants understand the "real world" pressures surrounding limited budgets and service disruptions, and work with you to develop low-risk implementation plans, as well as low-cost optimisation projects, that are feasible for your organization's budget and schedule

Optimisation

Multiple backup and storage vendors? Tens or even hundreds of thousand of Pounds of unused storage resources? Less than fully operational backup solutions? NAS’s Optimisation Services help you address these issues and more. Our consultants enable you to get the most out of your existing storage investments by helping you improve procedures, fine-tune system configurations, shift resource allocations, and perform software version upgrades.

  • Backup Process Optimisation. NAS consultants help you improve the quality and efficiency of your backup and restore processes by defining and documenting best practice procedures and fully utilizing the capabilities available with the technologies you have in place today.
  • Asset Redeployment. The storage available in most data centres is drastically under utilized. By better matching existing resources with your requirements, NAS can enable you to fully utilize the 'hidden capacity' in your existing storage tools.
  • Storage Operations Consolidation. By consolidating storage operations, NAS enables you to greatly improve manpower and/or equipment utilization by combining disparate procedures and resources into a single process supporting multiple systems.
  • Software Upgrades. Upgrading to your software vendor's current version often can provide improved performance and problem fixes, as well as valuable new features, at minimal cost. NAS can install and test upgrades to most popular products with little or no disruption to your daily operations.

    Knowledge Transfer

A SAN is a high-speed Fibre Channel network of interconnected storage resources and servers that eliminates the limitations associated with direct attached storage (DAS) by offering any to any communication and allowing multiple servers to access the same storage device independently.

The fibre technology that acts as a high performance data channel for SAN is designed to offer heterogeneous connectivity, enabling almost unlimited numbers of devices to be interconnected and allowing the transportation of different protocols simultaneously. Fibre Channel supports speeds up to five times that of existing protocols and can transfer over distances of up to 10km compared to 25meters for SCSI.
