QLogic has reported a successful quarter, gaining in the Fibre Channel (FC) adapters market in terms of both its share of revenues and of ports shipped.

In the first quarter storage area networks report from Dell'Oro Group, QLogic is seen as experiencing a majority stake in areas such as 8 Gbps FC adapters and overall FC ports shipped.

Within the 8 Gbps FC adapters market, QLogic stands 7.4 percentage points over its closest competitor in revenues and eight per cent in the number of ports.

Meanwhile, overall, the company enjoys a 57.6 per cent stake in ports and 56.2 per cent share of revenues derived from FC adapters, the report reveals.

Amit Vashi, vice-president of marketing at QLogic's host solutions group, says: "We were again successful in widening our lead over the competition and meeting the evolving needs of our customers by delivering superior application performance and ultra-low power consumption adapters at cost-effective price points."

The news follows the publication of end-of-year results by QLogic in April which reported record net revenues of $633.9 million (£413.9 million) for the fiscal year as a whole.
