Hitachi has added to the line-up of storage solutions available under its SimpleTech brand.

Three new options are available, comprising a portable USB 2.0 drive named Hitachi SimpleTOUGH, a mini portable drive called Hitachi SimpleDRIVE and a USB drive network adapter, Hitachi SimpleNET.

SimpleNET allows USB drives to be added directly to a home or small office network, bridging between the drive and an Ethernet switch to make the contents accessible to network users. The new products, which follow the acquisition of SimpleTech earlier this year, are to be marketed under the Hitachi name as the new parent company looks to bring its newly acquired business within its own brand umbrella.

Mike Williams, general manager of Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Branded Business, says: "Re-branding SimpleTech to the Hitachi brand is an important step in differentiating our solutions in the marketplace."

In April, following its acquisition of SimpleTech's then-parent firm Fabrik, Hitachi stressed that it would provide full support for the product lines previously available from the company.
