QLogic's converged network adapters (CNAs) have earned the company a Connectivity Product of the Year accolade in the 2009 awards from StorAge Magazine 

The firm's 8100 series of single-chip CNAs secured the title, providing users with ten-gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) support optimised for storage and data virtualisation.

Scott Genereux, senior vice-president of worldwide sales and marketing at QLogic, says that the award is more meaningful as it was voted for by readers of the publication.

"They see the tremendous problem-solving capabilities of Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and specifically the 8100 series adapters and have validated our strategy to deliver the highest performing FCoE connectivity solutions," he adds.

StorAge's awards, colloquially referred to as the Storries, are now in their sixth year, with the full list of 2009 winners due for publication in the July-August edition of the magazine.

QLogic points out that the benefits of converged networking include reduced costs, protection of investments and maintenance of high performance by using 10 GbE wires for Fibre Channel and TCP/IP traffic.
