GreenBytes® Inc., a developer of high performance, energy-efficient data storage solutions, today announced that the company’s GB-X Series deduplication storage appliances have been qualified for use with NetBackup through the Symantec OpenStorage Technology (OST) program. By using GreenBytes’ GB-X Series storage appliances in combination with Symantec OST, users will be able to fully enjoy the integrated deduplication capabilities of the GB-X Series along with the performance, scalability and ease-of-use that GreenBytes’ appliances offer, providing a complete storage solution designed to deliver the lowest TCO and highest ROI for enterprises of any size.

GreenBytes and Symantec customers benefit from the OST integration by utilizing the NetBackup interface, which provides a single point of management for all data protection operations. This integration allows users to manage end-end client/server backups and electronic vaulting DR (disaster recovery) copies off-site. While leveraging the NetBackup management interface, customers will also realize significant performance gains, reduced backup times, enhanced data reduction, and off-host replication copies, while maintaining NetBackup catalog awareness for all copies.
