Texas Memory Systems, maker of the World’s Fastest Storage®, today announced that it is delivering open source drivers on Linux and Solaris for the RamSan-20, a high-performance PCIe* flash-based solid state disk (SSD) storage product for accelerating workstations and servers. By having open source drivers, RamSan-20 users benefit from additional control and can accommodate future needs and add enhancements as required. Installation of a RamSan-20 SSD can increase application performance by 2,500%, dramatically increasing the volume of transactions that can be managed and the number of simultaneous users that can be supported. With this release of Linux and Solaris drivers for the Texas Memory Systems RamSan-20, the open source community has the ability to integrate and adapt high-performance SSD into an ever-expanding variety of environments. The open source community requires that code be available for review in order to provide supportability; by making the driver source available, Texas Memory Systems is empowering customers to easily port to custom kernels, currently unsupported operating systems, and add custom enhancements. This open flexibility expands deployment of PCIe SSDs into appliances using embedded Linux.
